Suspected IED Attack Rocks Changlang District in Arunachal Pradesh; Police Launch Probe

Itanagar: Authorities in Arunachal Pradesh are investigating a reported attack involving a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) and gunfire in Changlang district, raising concerns over security in the region. The incident allegedly targeted Ravi Ranjan Chaubey, chairperson of the Nuravi Group, along the Jinny Road stretch between Kharsang and Jairampur on the night of April 23.

According to preliminary inputs, the assault included possible use of an IED followed by shots fired at the victim. On April 24, security teams recovered several empty cartridges from the site, which have been collected as key evidence. Officials from the Nuravi Group promptly filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Kharsang Police Station, urging a thorough investigation.

District administration and security agencies are yet to issue an official confirmation on the exact details or Chaubey’s condition. A threatening message, reportedly linked to the episode and demanding Chaubey halt certain operations while warning of further attacks, has also surfaced. The note, allegedly signed in the name of NSCN (KYA), remains under verification for authenticity.

Security forces continue to gather more information as the probe intensifies in this sensitive border area.

This incident highlights ongoing challenges in maintaining peace in eastern Arunachal Pradesh, where authorities remain vigilant against potential threats.
