Arunachal Student Body Adopts Pasighat College as Model Institute, Seeks Full State Government Backing

Pasighat: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has officially adopted Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat as a Model Institute and has urged the state government to provide full support to transform it into a centre of academic excellence.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting of AAPSU with college authorities and student leaders in Pasighat on April 20.

AAPSU president Meje Taku stated that Jawaharlal Nehru College has a rich legacy and has produced many eminent personalities. However, the institution is currently facing several infrastructural and academic challenges. By adopting it as a model institute, the student body aims to push for comprehensive development including:

  • Upgradation of infrastructure and laboratories
  • Introduction of new job-oriented and skill-based courses
  • Improvement in faculty strength and quality
  • Better library and digital learning facilities
  • Enhanced hostel accommodation for students from remote areas

Taku appealed to Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Education Minister Dasanglu Pul to declare Jawaharlal Nehru College as a model college and allocate special funds for its holistic development.

The student union also resolved to monitor the progress of the college closely and extend full cooperation to the administration for its overall improvement.

This initiative by AAPSU is being viewed as a significant step towards strengthening higher education in the eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh and setting a benchmark for other colleges in the state.
