Naharlagun: In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, Naharlagun Police have seized 31 vials of heroin weighing 39.96 grams and arrested two persons in the Itanagar Capital Region.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a police team led by Inspector Tadu Hassang, Officer-in-Charge of Nirjuli Police Station, intercepted a TVS NTORQ scooter (without registration number) at Viaduct Bridge in Dikrong, Nirjuli on April 2.
The two arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Khyoda Tama (24)
- Bamang Raju (29)
Both are residents of Itanagar in Papum Pare district.
The heroin vials, along with the vehicle used for transportation, were seized in the presence of independent witnesses. A case has been registered at Nirjuli Police Station under Sections 21(b) and 27 of the NDPS Act.
Superintendent of Police, Capital Region, Dr. Nyelam Nega is supervising the operation. Police said further investigation is underway to uncover the full supply network and identify other individuals involved in the racket.
This latest seizure comes amid a series of anti-narcotics operations in Naharlagun and the capital complex area. Police have appealed to the public to share credible information and support efforts to make the region drug-free.
