The Namsai District Tourism Department in Arunachal Pradesh held a pivotal orientation meeting on June 26 to bolster safety and security measures across hotels and homestays, aiming to elevate the tourist experience in this culturally rich region. The session, conducted at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, brought together accommodation providers, district officials, and police representatives to discuss comprehensive safety enhancements.
Deputy Commissioner C.R. Khampa, who presided over the meeting, underscored the importance of robust safety measures, including the installation of CCTV cameras, effective emergency response systems, fire safety preparedness, and staff training to ensure guest security. He also emphasized sustainable practices, urging providers to maintain high cleanliness standards, implement waste segregation, and reduce plastic usage to align with eco-friendly tourism goals.
Superintendent of Police Sangey Thinley highlighted the need for strict compliance with government regulations, particularly maintaining accurate guest records. He announced upcoming training on the Immigration, Visa, Foreigners Registration and Tracking (IVFRT) system for homestay operators to streamline compliance. In-Charge District Tourism Officer Dr. Keshab Sarmah advocated for proactive safety planning and swift emergency response mechanisms, while also informing participants about government support schemes like DDSUY and UNNATI to empower tourism entrepreneurs.
The meeting also showcased upcoming tourism projects, including the Borbeel Project, Noi Dhamma, and the Mahabodhi Skill Development Centre, signaling Namsai’s ambition to become a premier tourist destination. Accommodation providers pledged to adopt enhanced safety protocols and collaborate closely with authorities, reinforcing Namsai’s commitment to being a secure and welcoming hub for visitors.
