Asus Unveils ROG Flow Z13 Gaming Tablet with AMD’s Integrated Graphics

Asus has introduced the latest iteration of its ROG Flow Z13 gaming tablet, showcasing significant enhancements in both design and performance.

Enhanced Design and Display

The 2025 ROG Flow Z13 maintains its distinctive 13-inch tablet form factor, complete with a built-in kickstand and magnetic keyboard cover. A notable design update includes an enlarged rear glass window, providing a clearer view of the motherboard illuminated by RGB lighting. The device features a 13-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and an increased refresh rate of 180Hz, offering a smoother visual experience compared to its predecessor.

Transition to AMD’s Integrated ‘Strix Halo’ Graphics

Departing from traditional dedicated GPUs, Asus has equipped the new ROG Flow Z13 with AMD’s advanced “Strix Halo” processors. Customers can choose between two configurations: the Ryzen AI Max 390, priced at $1,999.99, and the Ryzen AI Max Plus 395 at $2,199.99. The top-tier Max Plus 395 model boasts 16 CPU cores and 40 graphics cores, while the base model offers 12 CPU cores and 32 graphics cores. To manage the substantial power output, the tablet utilizes a redesigned stainless steel vapor chamber capable of handling up to 120W TDP.

Connectivity and Additional Features

The ROG Flow Z13 is well-equipped with a variety of ports, including two USB 4 ports, one USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port, HDMI 2.1, a microSD card slot supporting UHS-II speeds, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It also includes a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera. For internet connectivity, the device supports Wi-Fi 7. Charging is facilitated through USB-C Power Delivery; however, to achieve optimal performance under heavy loads, the tablet comes with a 200W power adapter utilizing Asus’ proprietary reversible slim power jack.

User Experience Enhancements

Asus has improved the detachable keyboard by enlarging the keycaps and touchpad, enhancing user comfort during extended use. A new “ScreenXpert” button has been added, providing quick access to display management controls and performance modes, particularly useful when operating in tablet mode.

Performance and Availability

Early impressions suggest that the integrated graphics deliver commendable gaming performance. In demonstrations, the tablet achieved approximately 60 frames per second in games like Helldivers 2 at native resolution, with higher frame rates attainable by adjusting render scaling settings. The ROG Flow Z13 is scheduled for release in February 2025, with pricing starting at $1,999.99 for the base model and $2,199.99 for the high-end configuration.
