The Arunachal Students’ Association (ASA) has expressed deep concern over a viral video showcasing illegal hunting activities in Mebo Sub-Division. The video features Panchayat leader Indu Yommin and others openly displaying firearms during a hunting expedition.
The ASA President, Lungkang Ering, strongly condemned the act, emphasizing that it violates legal norms and undermines ongoing conservation efforts. He highlighted the contrast between the irresponsible actions of a few and the commendable efforts of villages like Aohali and Borguli, which have embraced “Zero Hunting” and “Ornithophilic” initiatives under the Eco-Clean Mebo Mission (ECMM).
Ering called upon the Pasighat Deputy Commissioner to investigate the matter thoroughly, revoke misused gun licenses, and hold the culprits accountable. He also urged forest officials to intensify patrolling and establish checkpoints to prevent wildlife poaching and forest destruction.
The ASA believes that such illegal activities jeopardize the delicate ecological balance of the region and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. By working together, the association aims to protect Arunachal Pradesh’s rich biodiversity and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
