“We Will Comfortably Form Government”: Raijor Dal’s Akhil Gogoi Rejects Exit Polls, Predicts 70+ Seats for Congress-Led Alliance in Assam

Guwahati: As Assam awaits the Assembly election results on May 4, Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi has strongly dismissed exit poll predictions favouring the BJP, asserting that the Congress-led opposition alliance will comfortably secure power with over 70 seats.

Speaking to the media on May 2, Gogoi expressed full confidence in the public mandate, claiming the surveys do not reflect ground realities. He predicted that the alliance would form the next government by 1 PM on counting day, signalling a clear shift away from the ruling dispensation.

Gogoi urged strict vigilance to ensure a fair and transparent counting process, amid concerns over possible irregularities. His remarks come despite several exit polls projecting a comfortable majority for the BJP-led NDA.

The outspoken leader, who is contesting from Sivasagar, reiterated that the opposition’s victory is certain and called upon supporters to remain alert until the final outcome is declared.

The Assam Assembly elections have been keenly watched, with the results expected to shape the political landscape of the state for the next five years.
