Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government is actively exploring the vast geothermal energy potential of the state in collaboration with national and international industry experts.
A high-level meeting was held in Itanagar on April 20 to discuss the possibilities of harnessing geothermal resources for clean and sustainable power generation. The meeting was attended by senior government officials, energy department representatives, and experts from the geothermal sector.
Arunachal Pradesh is considered one of the most promising regions in India for geothermal energy due to its location in the Eastern Himalayas, which is tectonically active and rich in hot springs and geothermal manifestations.
Officials highlighted that successful development of geothermal projects could provide a reliable, round-the-clock source of renewable energy, reduce dependence on diesel-based power in remote areas, and support the state’s long-term energy security and climate goals.
