Itanagar: The first phase of the Census 2027 – Self-Enumeration – will commence in Arunachal Pradesh from April 16, 2026, and continue till May 31, 2026.
The Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India has notified that during this period, citizens will be able to fill up the census questionnaire online through the official portal census.gov.in using their mobile number or Aadhaar.
According to the Arunachal Pradesh Directorate of Census Operations, residents can self-enumerate by visiting the portal, registering with their mobile number, and filling the required details. This facility has been introduced for the first time to make the process more convenient and time-efficient.
Key points regarding Self-Enumeration:
- Available from April 16 to May 31, 2026
- Can be done using mobile number or Aadhaar
- One person can fill the form for the entire household
- After online submission, a reference number will be generated which must be kept safely for verification during the subsequent field enumeration phase
The field enumeration phase by official enumerators is scheduled to begin from June 1, 2026.
The state administration has appealed to all citizens, including those living in remote and border areas, to take advantage of the self-enumeration facility and ensure their details are correctly recorded.
This digital initiative is expected to improve the accuracy and speed of data collection for the first phase of Census 2027.
