Women Beneficiaries Laud Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Inclusive Welfare Policies: “Benefits for All, No Discrimination”

Women beneficiaries from diverse communities in Assam have come forward to commend Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his government’s equitable approach to welfare distribution. They emphasized that state schemes reach every eligible household without any bias based on religion, fostering a sense of inclusion and fairness across Hindu and Muslim families alike.

Speaking in Kaliabor, women recipients highlighted the uniform implementation of various assistance programs, rejecting notions of exclusion. One beneficiary shared a striking perspective: “Himanta Biswa Sarma might be using the term ‘Miya’ out of affection. If he had not, then why are the benefits being distributed equally, despite their religious identity?” This reflects growing appreciation for the administration’s development-focused governance that prioritizes outcomes over divisive rhetoric.

The praise underscores the success of flagship initiatives like the Orunodoi scheme, which provides monthly financial support to women-led households, and other empowerment programs such as the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA), aimed at promoting women’s entrepreneurship through Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Beneficiaries noted that these schemes deliver direct benefits—ranging from monthly aid to additional bonuses—without religious barriers, strengthening economic security for lakhs of families statewide.

With the 2026 Assam Assembly elections on the horizon, many women expressed strong support for Sarma’s leadership, stating that similar positive sentiments prevail among both Hindu and Muslim women in the region. They credited the government’s inclusive policies for tangible improvements in livelihoods and community welfare, positioning it as a model of non-discriminatory governance in a diverse state.

This ground-level endorsement highlights how welfare delivery has become a key pillar in Assam’s political narrative, countering criticisms and reinforcing public trust in targeted, transparent schemes.
