BJP Announces Four Candidates for Arunachal Panchayat Polls in Kalaktang

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially declared its candidates for the upcoming Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) elections in the Kalaktang area of West Kameng district. The announcements were made during a well-attended party workers’ meeting held at the community hall in Kalaktang, signalling the party’s strong intent to consolidate its presence at the grassroots level.

The meeting was chaired by Kalaktang MLA Goruk Pordung and attended by senior BJP leaders, including former MLA and party stalwart Tseten Chombay Kee, district office-bearers, mandal presidents, and a large number of local party workers and supporters.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Goruk Pordung expressed full confidence in the selected candidates, describing them as dedicated, experienced, and capable of delivering effective development at the panchayat level. He urged party workers to unite and ensure a resounding victory for the BJP-backed candidates in the December 15 polls.

Former MLA Tseten Chombay Kee highlighted the BJP’s consistent focus on rural development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pema Khandu. He emphasised that the party’s candidates were chosen through a transparent and democratic process, keeping in mind their grassroots connect and commitment to public service.

The gathering also served as a platform to mobilise party workers for the ongoing election campaign, with leaders stressing the importance of door-to-door outreach and highlighting the state government’s achievements in infrastructure, education, health, and connectivity in the Kalaktang region.

With the Model Code of Conduct in force, the BJP has begun intensifying its campaign across Arunachal Pradesh for the simultaneous Panchayat and Municipal elections. The party is expected to announce more candidates in the coming days as nomination filing progresses.

The announcements in Kalaktang are seen as a strategic move to retain the BJP’s dominance in West Kameng district, where the party already holds significant sway in both assembly and local body segments.
