IndiGo Airlines Back in Action with Freight Services, Easing Logistics Woes for MSMEs and Exporters in Trade Push
Donyi Polo Airport in Itanagar has reinstated its air cargo facilities, delivering a timely boost to the state’s burgeoning trade ecosystem and alleviating pressures on small-scale enterprises and shippers. The pause in operations stemmed from the transition to the facility’s freshly opened terminal, but swift regulatory nods have now cleared the runway for seamless resumption.
Arunachal Pradesh Civil Aviation Minister Balo Raja’s office announced that the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) Regional Director has extended full clearance for cargo handling, dispatching instructions directly to the airport director and IndiGo’s service head. This green light paves the way for instant reactivation, with IndiGo confirming all setups are primed for takeoff.
The interim halt had thrown a wrench into supply chains, particularly for the Department of Trade and Commerce and local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) gearing up to showcase goods at major expos. Minister Raja wasted no time, reaching out to airport officials to expedite solutions and secure the necessary security vetting from BCAS.
Airport Director P. Narendra affirmed that IndiGo has locked in every detail for smooth freight flows, making services accessible right away. This revival is set to supercharge logistics, enabling faster dispatch of regional specialties and strengthening Arunachal’s foothold in broader markets.
The move aligns with the state’s drive to amplify connectivity, ensuring exporters face fewer bottlenecks and can compete more effectively. As cargo bays hum back to life, stakeholders anticipate a surge in economic momentum, from agricultural produce to handicrafts, underscoring aviation’s role in unlocking the Northeast’s potential.
