Namsai: Arunachal Pradesh Police have dealt a fresh blow to drug traffickers in Namsai district with the seizure of 57 grams of suspected heroin and the arrest of two persons in two separate operations conducted within a span of 12 days.
Details of the Operations:
- March 20 Operation: Police raided a rented house near 2nd Mile in Namsai town and arrested Sujita Kungkung. Around 15 grams of suspected heroin was recovered from her possession.
- April 2 Operation: A team intercepted a vehicle along the Solungtoo Highway and arrested Chow Pingta Choutang. Police recovered 41 grams of suspected heroin, which was cleverly concealed inside soap cases.
Both arrested individuals are locals. Cases have been registered against them under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further interrogation is underway to trace the source and larger supply network.
Namsai district, which shares a border with Assam, has been witnessing increased police vigilance against narcotics smuggling. Senior officers have appealed to the public to share credible information and actively support the drive to make the district drug-free.
These back-to-back seizures reflect the Arunachal Police’s intensified efforts to curb the growing drug menace, especially in border districts where trafficking routes are active.
