NEITC 2026 Convention Concludes in Arunachal Pradesh, Charting a Unified Path for Sustainable Tourism Across Northeast India

The North East India Tourism Confederation (NEITC) successfully wrapped up its landmark 2026 Annual General Meeting and Tourism Convention, signalling strong momentum for collaborative and responsible tourism growth in the region. Hosted across Namsai, Anini, and Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh from March 22 to 27, the event brought together stakeholders from all eight northeastern states to explore strategies for positioning the Northeast as a premier global tourism destination.

Multi-Location Convention Highlights Regional Unity

The convention featured interactive sessions, networking opportunities, and destination showcases, with active participation from tourism bodies, industry experts, and government representatives. Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein attended as the chief guest, underscoring the state government’s strong support for tourism initiatives.

Organised in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators Association (APTOA) and backed by the Ministry of Tourism and the state government, the gathering emphasised sustainable practices, improved connectivity, increased investments, and joint branding efforts to promote the Northeast collectively.

New Leadership Elected to Drive Future Growth

A key outcome of the AGM was the election of a new leadership team through a democratic process. Tsering Wange from Arunachal Pradesh was elected President, with E. Banlumlang Blah as Advisor, Yangchen Tongden Lepcha as General Secretary, and Raj Kumar Das as Treasurer. This fresh team is expected to guide coordinated tourism development across the eight states.

Discussions also spotlighted the potential of Buddhist tourism as a vital link between Northeast India and ASEAN countries, alongside community participation and environmental sustainability.

FAM Tour Showcases Arunachal’s Tourism Potential

Delegates participated in a Familiarisation (FAM) tour that took them through the scenic Dibang Valley, including visits to Anini, Roing, and Pasighat. The tour provided first-hand exposure to the region’s rich natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventure opportunities, reinforcing Arunachal Pradesh’s emergence as a promising tourism hotspot.

The convention concluded in Pasighat, where participants reaffirmed their commitment to transforming the Northeast into a world-class, sustainable tourism hub through unified efforts.

Optimism for Northeast Tourism’s Bright Future

The successful hosting of the NEITC 2026 convention in Arunachal Pradesh reflects growing confidence in the region’s ability to harness its unique landscapes, biodiversity, and cultural diversity. Stakeholders believe that focused collaboration on infrastructure, marketing, and eco-friendly models will unlock significant economic opportunities while preserving local ecosystems and traditions.

This event marks an important step toward realising the vast untapped potential of tourism in India’s Northeast.
