Mushalpur, Baksa: In a crucial step to ensure free, fair, and transparent conduct of the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections, District Commissioner and District Election Officer (DEO) of Baksa district, Kimnei Changsan, IAS, chaired a high-level coordination meeting with representatives of various political parties. The session took place at the DC Conference Hall in Mushalpur town.

The meeting, held on Thursday, was attended by key election observers and senior officials, including General Observer S. Gopala Sundara Raj, IAS; Expenditure Observer Mohan Lal Meena, IDAS; Police Observer Rohith Nathan Rajagopal, IPS; Senior Superintendent of Police Ujjal Pratim Baruah, APS; Additional Deputy Commissioner Arup Choudhury, along with assistant commissioners and other district administration personnel.

Discussions centered on critical electoral preparations, including the effective use of the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) Suvidha Portal for obtaining necessary permissions, strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), and compliance with expenditure monitoring norms. Party representatives were sensitized about the importance of submitting applications in a timely manner and following all election guidelines rigorously.

Emphasizing collaborative efforts, DEO Kimnei Changsan highlighted the vital role of all stakeholders in upholding democratic processes. She stressed the need for cooperation to guarantee peaceful and transparent polling across the district and urged political parties to strictly comply with the directives issued by the Election Commission of India.

This meeting forms part of broader administrative preparations in Baksa district for the 2026 Assam Assembly polls, aiming to minimize violations, enhance transparency in campaign financing, and facilitate smooth operations in what could be a closely contested electoral battle.

With multiple political parties gearing up for the state elections, such stakeholder engagements are seen as essential for maintaining law and order, preventing malpractices, and ensuring every voter can participate without hindrance.
