a vibrant district-level philatelic exhibition in Pasighat. Held at the IGJGHSS Auditorium, the event brought together students, avid philatelists, and community members to celebrate the art and history embedded in postage stamps.
The exhibition showcased an impressive array of rare stamp collections and thematic displays, emphasizing the cultural and historical significance of philately. Participants explored exhibits that highlighted India’s rich postal heritage while connecting younger audiences to national traditions.
A major highlight was the release of a special commemorative cover honoring Lt. Sutem Tasung, the first MLA of the undivided Pasighat Constituency. The cover recognized his invaluable contributions to the state. The initiative came from Bodong Yirang, President of Adi Agom Kebang, and was sponsored by Shri Tajing Taki, General Secretary of the same organization. Family members of Lt. Tasung, including his daughter Dr. Runi Tasung, were present and expressed appreciation to the Department of Posts for this meaningful tribute.
Tapi Darang Jiwani, IAS and Deputy Commissioner of Siang District, served as the chief guest and commended the postal department for its efforts in promoting philately. He stressed how such exhibitions help preserve regional heritage, educate youth, and strengthen ties to India’s cultural roots.
The program included engaging activities such as a philately workshop to spark interest among students, along with creative competitions in painting, drawing, and letter writing.
The Department of Posts extended gratitude to dignitaries, educational institutions, participants, and the public for their enthusiastic support, calling SIANGPEX-2026 a key milestone in advancing philately and safeguarding postal legacy in Arunachal Pradesh.
