The Arunachal Pradesh government has carried out a significant overhaul of its police administration by transferring and posting 27 senior officers, including members of the Indian Police Service (IPS) and Arunachal Pradesh Police Service (APPS) cadres.
The reshuffle, approved by the Governor following recommendations of the Police Establishment Board (PEB), aims to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and strengthen law and order across the state.
Key Transfers Announced:
- Chinmoy Biswal (Senior IPS officer) has been appointed as Inspector General of Police (IGP) – Security and Crime.
- Joy Tirkey has been given additional charge as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Headquarters.
- Mangesh (Delhi cadre IPS officer) has been posted as DIG (TCL).
- Akshat Kausal takes over as Superintendent of Police (SP), Tirap, replacing Aditya Singh, who has been transferred as SP, Longding.
- Shivendu Bhushan (previously SP Crime) has been posted as SP, East Kameng.
- Sandhya Swamy has been appointed as SP, Kra Daadi.
- Pankaj Kumar has been posted as SP, Dibang Valley.
- Swati Singh has been appointed as SP, Pakke Kesang.
- Tasi Darang takes charge as SP, Tawang.
- D W Thungon (earlier SP Tawang) has been transferred as SP, West Kameng.
- Achin Garg has been posted as SP (Crime).
- Anjitha Chepyala has been appointed as SP (SIT/Cyber Crime).
- Dekio Gumja has been posted as SP, Special Task Force (STF).
- Sepraj Perme has been appointed as SP (SDRF/Home Guards/Civil Defence).
Several officers have also been assigned as Commanding Officers of various Indian Reserve Battalions (IRBn) and the Arunachal Armed Police Battalion.
The government described the exercise as a routine administrative measure aimed at enhancing policing efficiency and ensuring better coordination across districts and specialised units. Officials expect the new postings to bring fresh momentum to law enforcement, particularly in sensitive border areas and cyber crime management.
This major reshuffle is likely to have a significant impact on ground-level policing and administrative functioning across Arunachal Pradesh in the coming months.
