Complaint Filed Against Gujarat Tourists for Alleged Misconduct at Arunachal Resort Near Indo-China Border

A formal complaint has been lodged with police in Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw district after a group of tourists from Gujarat allegedly misbehaved and created a nuisance at a resort close to the Indo-China border.

The incident reportedly occurred at a popular eco-tourism resort in the Kibithoo area, one of the easternmost points of India, near the Line of Actual Control (LAC). According to local authorities and eyewitness accounts, the group of tourists engaged in unruly behavior, including loud arguments, disregard for resort rules, and alleged verbal abuse toward staff and other guests. Some reports also mention inappropriate conduct in a culturally sensitive and strategically sensitive border zone.

The resort management, supported by local residents and tourism stakeholders, promptly approached the police station in Kibithoo and registered a formal complaint under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including provisions related to public nuisance, criminal intimidation, and violation of peace in a notified area.

Police have initiated an investigation and are in the process of identifying and recording statements from all involved parties. Senior officials have emphasized that strict action will be taken if the allegations are substantiated, particularly given the location’s proximity to the international border and the need to maintain discipline among visitors in sensitive zones.

The episode has sparked concern among local tourism operators, who fear that such incidents could damage the reputation of Arunachal Pradesh as a safe and respectful destination for domestic travelers. Community leaders have appealed to tourists to respect local customs, follow guidelines, and behave responsibly while visiting border regions.

Authorities have reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh welcomes visitors from across the country but expects adherence to local laws, environmental norms, and cultural sensitivities—especially in areas of strategic importance.

The matter is currently under active police inquiry, with further updates expected as the investigation progresses.
