Historic Border Pillar Installed in Seijosa: Major Milestone in Arunachal-Assam Boundary Dispute Resolution

Arunachal Pradesh and Assam have taken a crucial stride toward resolving their longstanding interstate boundary issues with the successful erection of the first official border pillar in Seijosa, located in Pakke Kessang district. This achievement signals a new era of cooperation and stability for communities along the shared frontier.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced the development on social media platform X, hailing it as a landmark moment aligned with the principles of the Namsai Declaration. He emphasized that this step ends years of ambiguity, fostering mutual trust, peaceful relations, and secure living conditions for border residents.

The pillar’s installation was executed by a collaborative team of senior officials from both states, ensuring precise alignment and consensus on the ground. Khandu praised the leadership of Biyuram Waghe, Chairman of the Regional Committee for Pakke Kessang, alongside district authorities and community leaders for their pivotal contributions.

This initial demarcation is poised to set a precedent for the broader boundary resolution process, enhancing bilateral ties between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. It promises to minimize disputes, promote regional development, and build lasting confidence among affected populations.
