In a major push for employment generation and healthcare expansion, the Tripura Cabinet has sanctioned the creation and filling of 555 new positions across various state departments. This move is complemented by the approval of new institutions for alternative medicine, including an Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, as well as a Homeopathy Medical College and Hospital, signaling a commitment to bolstering public services and educational infrastructure.
The decisions were finalized during a Cabinet session led by Chief Minister Manik Saha, as announced by Cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury. Key highlights include the recruitment of 110 Veterinary Officers (Group B) in the Animal Resource Development Department, to be conducted through the Tripura Public Service Commission. Additionally, the Health and Family Welfare Department will add 100 Multi-Purpose Worker roles—split evenly between 50 males and 50 females—via a competitive selection process.
A significant focus is on enhancing alternative healthcare education. The state has approved a new Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital in Tepania, Gomati district, with an initial capacity of 60 seats, set to commence operations in the upcoming academic year. Until the permanent facility is ready, classes will be held at a temporary site in Chandrapur within the same district. Similarly, a 60-seat Homeopathy Medical College and Hospital will be established at the Netaji Subhas State Home Hospital in Agartala, West Tripura, aiming to meet growing demand for holistic medical training.
Other approvals encompass eight Multi-Tasking Staff positions in the Directorate of Prosecution under the Home Department, to be filled through the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura. For Tripura State Rifles personnel stationed in New Delhi, the house rent allowance has been hiked from 24% to 27%. The Power Department will recruit seven Lower Division Clerks for the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency, while the Tribal Welfare Department’s boarding house stipend has been raised from ₹80 to ₹100 per day to better support students.
In a landmark expansion for the tech sector, 330 new posts have been created under the Tripura Information Technology Service, representing one of the largest recruitments in this domain in recent times.
These initiatives are poised to improve service delivery, create vital job opportunities, and advance healthcare accessibility in Tripura, contributing to the state’s overall development and workforce empowerment.
