Imphal, Manipur – In a series of swift and coordinated actions, Manipur Police successfully apprehended two active militant cadres belonging to different outfits in separate operations, recovering firearms and ammunition. The arrests mark another significant blow to insurgent networks operating in the state and reflect the ongoing commitment of security forces to restore peace and normalcy.

First Arrest: KYKL Cadre Nabbed in Imphal West
Manipur Police commandos arrested a cadre of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from the Lilong area under Imphal West district. The detainee was identified as Md. Abdul Aziz (28), a resident of Lilong Chajing.
During the search following his apprehension, authorities recovered:
- One 9mm pistol
- One magazine
- Four live rounds of 9mm ammunition
The arrested individual is believed to have been actively involved in extortion, intimidation, and other subversive activities on behalf of the outfit. He has been taken into custody for further interrogation to unravel possible links to recent incidents and larger networks.
Second Arrest: PLA Cadre Detained in Bishnupur
In a parallel operation in Bishnupur district, police arrested another militant cadre linked to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The operation yielded:
- One .32 pistol
- One magazine
- Six live rounds of .32 ammunition
The arrested person has been identified and is currently under police custody. Preliminary investigations suggest his involvement in facilitating arms movement and supporting militant operations in the greater Imphal valley region.
Both individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the Arms Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), with further legal proceedings underway.

These back-to-back arrests come amid heightened security operations across Manipur aimed at neutralizing active cadres, recovering looted or illegally held weapons, and dismantling support structures of various insurgent groups.
