Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Lays Foundation Stone for Modern Government Officers’ Quarters in Namsai

Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh – Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated a key infrastructure project by laying the foundation stone for new residential accommodations dedicated to government officers and staff in Namsai district. This initiative represents a vital step in the state’s ongoing efforts to modernize outdated housing and enhance living conditions for public servants in rapidly developing administrative hubs.

The project, executed under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, focuses on constructing contemporary residential units to replace aging structures from the NEFA era, ensuring better facilities and improved administrative efficiency.

Project Highlights and Features

The ambitious development includes the construction of 24 modern Type-III residential units arranged in two blocks of 12 units each. Key components encompass comprehensive site development, internal cement concrete roads, paver block parking areas, a main entry and exit gate, and a secure compound wall.

With an estimated cost of approximately Rs 18.66 crore, the project is slated for completion within 18 months. The Department of Urban Affairs, Namsai Division, oversees execution, with provisions for an additional block of 12 units in future phases to further expand capacity.

This phased replacement strategy targets dilapidated NEFA-era buildings, prioritizing employee welfare while supporting sustainable urban growth in Namsai—a strategically important district in eastern Arunachal Pradesh.

Emphasis on Employee Welfare and Statewide Upgrades

Chief Minister Khandu highlighted the government’s systematic approach to upgrading government quarters statewide. He noted that similar residential projects are being actively pursued, with two units inaugurated on the same day and another under construction elsewhere.

“The government is systematically reconstructing outdated government quarters across the state to provide better living conditions for employees,” Khandu stated, underscoring the commitment to improving quality of life for public servants who form the backbone of administration in remote and hilly terrains.

Such enhancements not only boost morale but also attract and retain talent in government service, contributing to more effective governance and service delivery.

Dignitaries Join Historic Groundbreaking

The event saw participation from key leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Minister Kento Jini, MLAs Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Jikke Tako, and Oken Tayeng, along with Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta and other senior officials.

Their presence reinforced the collaborative spirit behind the state’s infrastructure push, aligning with broader goals of balanced regional development and modernized public facilities in Arunachal Pradesh.

Boost for Namsai’s Urban Landscape

Namsai, as a growing administrative and commercial center, stands to benefit significantly from upgraded residential infrastructure. Better accommodations for officers will support smoother functioning of district-level departments, while the project’s modern amenities align with the state’s vision for planned urban expansion.

This foundation-laying ceremony exemplifies Arunachal Pradesh’s proactive investments in human-centric development, ensuring that essential workers receive dignified living conditions commensurate with their responsibilities.

As construction progresses, the project promises to set a benchmark for residential upgrades across the Northeast, blending functionality with long-term sustainability.
