Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Urges Discipline and Ideological Clarity Among Newly Elected Panchayat Leaders

Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh – Chief Minister Pema Khandu emphasized the critical importance of discipline, ideological clarity, and grassroots empowerment while addressing an orientation programme for newly elected panchayat representatives. The session, held on January 28, aimed to equip zilla parishad chairs, zilla parishad members, and gram panchayat chairpersons with a solid understanding of party principles, responsibilities, ethical conduct, and seamless coordination with government mechanisms.

Khandu congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organization and its dedicated workers for their strong showing in the recent panchayat elections, attributing the success to the public’s growing trust in the party’s governance vision and development agenda.

Orientation Focuses on Ideological Foundation and Responsibilities

The programme served as a platform to instill core values and operational knowledge essential for effective local leadership. Chief Minister Khandu highlighted that the BJP operates on the foundational principle of “nation first,” driven by ideology rather than the pursuit of power alone.

He contrasted this approach with other political entities, stressing that service to the nation and society takes precedence over personal or partisan gains. “The party functions on the principle of ‘nation first’ and is driven by ideology rather than power,” Khandu stated, underscoring the need for representatives to align their actions with these ideals.

Participants were encouraged to embrace discipline and clarity in thought and action, ensuring that grassroots institutions remain robust pillars of democracy.

Visible Transformation Under BJP Leadership

Reflecting on Arunachal Pradesh’s democratic evolution since its formation in 1972, the Chief Minister noted the state’s historical challenges post-Independence and the remarkable progress achieved over the past decade under BJP governance and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

“The difference in governance over the past ten years is clearly visible on the ground,” Khandu observed, urging panchayat leaders to actively contribute to strengthening democratic structures at the village level and driving efficient implementation of development schemes.

He pointed to the influx of educated first-time representatives—including graduates and postgraduates—as a positive shift that enhances decision-making quality and revitalizes the panchayati raj system.

Call for Active Role in Grassroots Development

Khandu called upon the newly elected leaders to play a proactive part in bolstering local democratic institutions and ensuring that government programmes reach beneficiaries effectively. He described development as an ongoing process where pace and efficiency define true governance quality.

To further build administrative capacity, separate training programmes for panchayat representatives were announced, promising continued support to translate ideological commitment into tangible outcomes.

This orientation reflects the BJP’s emphasis on nurturing capable, ideologically aligned leadership at the grassroots to sustain momentum in Arunachal Pradesh’s development journey and reinforce public confidence in decentralized governance.

As the state advances, such initiatives aim to empower local bodies to deliver inclusive growth while upholding discipline, integrity, and national priorities.
