Naharlagun Police Detain Private Tuition Teacher for Alleged Molestation and Sexual Assault of Four Minor Girls

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Naharlagun police have arrested a 35-year-old private tuition teacher accused of molesting and sexually assaulting four minor girls at his rented residence in G Sector. The swift action by law enforcement underscores the authorities’ commitment to protecting vulnerable children, amid growing concerns over child safety in educational settings.

The incident came to light on November 30, 2025, around 9:15 PM, when a verbal complaint was lodged at Naharlagun Police Station. The victims, all aged between 6 and 7 years and studying in Class 1, were allegedly targeted during tuition sessions at the accused’s apartment.

Swift Police Response and Arrest

Acting on the immediate report, a team from Naharlagun Police Station, comprising L/SI S. Dirchi, HC S. Bagang, and HC T K Khochi, detained the suspect without delay. The accused, identified as Milo Takar, son of Milo Sambyo from Village Bula in Lower Subansiri District, was taken into custody and subsequently transferred to the Women Police Station in Itanagar for specialised investigation and further legal proceedings.

Police sources confirmed that the case has been registered under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The investigation is ongoing, with a focus on gathering medical evidence, witness statements, and ensuring the victims receive comprehensive psychological support.

Victim Details and Incident Circumstances

The four young girls, who attended the accused’s private tuition classes, were subjected to the assault at his rented premises. Preliminary inquiries suggest the incidents occurred over multiple sessions, exploiting the trust placed in the teacher by the families. The victims’ parents, upon learning of the abuse, promptly alerted authorities, preventing potential escalation.

Authorities have emphasised that the identities of the minors will remain confidential to safeguard their privacy and well-being. Counselling and rehabilitation services have been arranged through the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) to aid the girls’ recovery.

Official Statements and Community Impact

In an official statement, Naharlagun Police detailed the initial report:

“A verbal information was received on 30/11/25 around 2115 hrs at Naharlagun PS that 4 (four) minor girls, aged around 06-07 yrs old, of class 1 standard, were molested and sexually assaulted by the Private Tuition Teacher.”

Superintendent of Police (ICR) Dr. Nyelam Nega condemned the act as “heinous and unforgivable,” vowing a thorough probe to ensure justice. “We urge parents and guardians to remain vigilant about their children’s interactions in tuition centres and report any suspicious behaviour immediately,” Dr. Nega added.

The arrest has triggered widespread outrage in Naharlagun and surrounding areas, with local women’s organisations and child rights activists calling for stricter background checks on private tutors and enhanced awareness programmes in schools. Community leaders have organised support meetings for the affected families, highlighting the need for collective vigilance to prevent such tragedies.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by young children in informal learning environments. The Papum Pare district administration has assured full cooperation with the police and pledged to review safety protocols in private coaching setups. Further updates on the investigation are expected as the probe deepens.
