In a proactive step towards ensuring smooth conduct of the upcoming Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) elections, District Election Officer (Panchayati Raj) Vishakha Yadav chaired a high-level review meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall in Yupia, Papum Pare district.
The meeting focused on assessing and strengthening preparedness for the Panchayati Raj Election 2025, scheduled for December 15, 2025, in a single phase across the state.

The review session was attended by senior officials, including:
- SP Itanagar Jummar Basar
- SP Papum Pare Taru Gusar
- ASP Naharlagun Chukhu Nunu Bui
- Returning Officers (ROs) of the respective Zilla Parishad constituencies in Papum Pare district
A separate follow-up meeting was held with representatives of various political parties from the district.
Main Discussions and Preparedness Measures
Returning Officers briefed the house on the progress made so far, including:
- Issuance of public notices regarding nomination processes, polling day schedules, and other key election activities as per the directives of the State Election Commission (SEC), Itanagar
- Initiation of arrangements for finalising Counting Halls, EVM/EDC Facilitation Centres, and Strong Rooms
- Strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC)
Law enforcement officials, led by the Superintendents of Police, assured full support in maintaining law and order, preventing any election-related violence, and ensuring a peaceful and fair electoral process.
DEO (PR) Vishakha Yadav issued a stern warning against any form of election violations, emphasising zero tolerance.
“Any individual involved in election violations will not be tolerated and shall be dealt with strictly as per law,” the DEO stated.
In the interaction with political party representatives, detailed briefings were provided on:
- Dos and don’ts during the campaign period
- Mandatory maintenance of expenditure records
- Adherence to prescribed expenditure ceilings
- Avoiding actions that could disturb law and order or lead to violations
The district administration urged all stakeholders — candidates, political parties, and officials — to cooperate fully for conducting free, fair, and transparent elections.
Such review meetings are being conducted across districts in Arunachal Pradesh as part of the statewide preparations for the simultaneous Panchayat and Municipal elections, underscoring the commitment to democratic processes at the grassroots level.
