ZPM Leader Underscores Mizo Traditions of Unity and Collective Effort, Hails Key Societies for Boosting Agriculture, Handlooms, and Dairy Sectors
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has reaffirmed the state government’s steadfast dedication to empowering cooperative societies and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), positioning them as foundational drivers of grassroots prosperity and self-reliance. Addressing the 72nd All India Cooperative Week celebrations, he wove a compelling narrative around the intrinsic cooperative ethos embedded in Mizo culture, where communal harmony and shared endeavors have long fueled societal progress.
Lalduhoma spotlighted the recently activated Mizoram Procurement Preference Policy for Small & Medium Enterprises 2025, a game-changing regulation now etched into official records. This policy prioritizes homegrown goods in state procurement, injecting vitality into local economies and amplifying citizen involvement in wealth creation. “These steps are more than administrative tweaks—they’re catalysts for our people to embrace bolder economic roles with the discipline and resilience that define us,” he proclaimed, celebrating the Mizo spirit of tackling challenges head-on for collective gain.
The Chief Minister extended glowing tributes to standout cooperatives that embody this vision. He commended the Mizoram Milk Producers Cooperative Union (MULCO) for revolutionizing dairy farming by channeling local output into sustainable markets, fostering livelihoods in rural pockets. Equally, the Mizoram Apex Handloom and Handicraft Cooperative Society Ltd (MAHCO) drew praise for catapulting traditional Mizo weaves onto national pedestals, blending heritage craftsmanship with modern appeal. Rounding out the accolades, the Mizoram State Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry and Marketing Cooperative Federation Limited (MAHFED) earned recognition for its pivotal support to farmers, producers, and innovators through streamlined marketing channels that elevate agricultural and horticultural yields.
Cooperation Minister PC Vanialruata joined the occasion, reinforcing the administration’s collaborative blueprint. With Mizoram boasting around 1,500 primary cooperatives and 13 apex federations, the state stands as a fertile ground for these models to flourish, aligning seamlessly with global calls to amplify cooperative movements.
This renewed focus not only honors the week’s theme but also propels Mizoram toward a future where cooperatives and MSMEs ignite inclusive growth, transforming cultural strengths into economic powerhouses that uplift every corner of the state.
