Provocative Outburst Targets Opposition Leaders, Warns of Aggressive Demographic Shifts and Criminal Risks if Congress Regains Power
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has unleashed a blistering broadside against the Congress and its allies, prophesying a complete takeover by the Miya community across the state—from the administrative heart of Dispur—if the BJP relinquishes control. In a charged interaction with journalists, Sarma positioned his party as the sole bulwark shielding indigenous populations from what he described as an existential demographic onslaught.
“Rest assured: the moment BJP steps aside, the Miyas will seize every corner of Assam. I’m making this prediction loud and clear today. Those who vilify us will rue the day, for we form the unbreakable dam holding back the tide between the Miya and our native sons,” Sarma asserted, framing the stakes in stark, unyielding terms. He spotlighted a purported 40 percent of the populace as “fierce and bold,” noting their unabashed social media bravado even under current governance. “Picture their unchecked reign if Congress sweeps back in—they’d claim it all without hesitation.”
Escalating the rhetoric, Sarma wove in grim historical allusions, alleging a legacy of heinous acts within the community, including assaults on women followed by gruesome disposals. “They could ravage a woman, dismember her, and cast her remains into the depths—that’s the chronicle we must confront. The masses need to grasp this and forge unbreakable solidarity, or our very existence hangs in the balance,” he warned, urging a united front to avert catastrophe.
In a pointed jab at political adversaries, Sarma singled out three prominent Gogois—Lurinjyoti Gogoi, Akhil Gogoi, and Gaurav Gogoi—as the foremost champions of Miya interests, dismissing them as anything but genuine advocates for their own surnamesake. “These three Gogois aren’t allies of the Gogois—they’re the Miya community’s staunchest defenders,” he charged, igniting fresh ammunition in Assam’s polarized arena.
These incendiary declarations are poised to unleash a torrent of backlash from opposition ranks and watchdog groups, who have long decried Sarma’s narrative as a divisive wedge exploiting communal fault lines for electoral gain. As Assam navigates simmering tensions over identity, land, and belonging, the CM’s words risk deepening rifts while rallying his base around a fortress mentality against perceived encroachments.
This latest salvo underscores the high-wire act of regional politics, where safeguards for native heritage clash with accusations of fearmongering, leaving the electorate to weigh unity against the shadows of division.
