Key Initiatives Encompass Road Upgrades, Strategic Bridges, Sports Venues, School Enhancements, and a Grand Buddha Park to Elevate Connectivity, Economy, and Cultural Heritage
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has unveiled a transformative array of over 20 development projects in the West Kameng district, zeroing in on the Thrizino-Buragaon Assembly segment. This ambitious rollout aims to revolutionize transportation networks, stimulate economic growth, and guarantee better delivery of vital public amenities for residents.
Among the highlights, Khandu officially handed over three upgraded road initiatives to the community: enhancements along the Palizi (NH-13) route leading to the Thrizino ADC headquarters, reinforcements for the Thrizino township roadway, and a sturdy cement concrete pathway linking the helipad to NH-13 through the PWD circuit house. These completions mark a significant leap in local mobility and accessibility.
Moving forward, foundation stones were set for two vital reinforced concrete bridges in the Singchung sub-division—one stretching 80 meters across the Dinkho River and another bridging the Tenga Chu River. These structures are poised to streamline travel and foster stronger inter-village ties, unlocking new opportunities for trade and daily commutes.
The package extends to recreational and youth empowerment zones, featuring new badminton courts in Bhalukpong and Thrizino, alongside a state-of-the-art FIFA-approved artificial turf at the Buddha Stadium in Bomdila. In the education realm, upgrades include a multipurpose auditorium at the Government Higher Secondary School in Thrizino, comprehensive facility improvements at the Government Secondary School in Bhalukpong, and expanded hostel accommodations at two campuses of the North East Secondary Boarding Academy for Visually Impaired (NSCBAV).
Under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Special Road Development Programme (CMCSRDP), township pathways in the Singchung ADC headquarters and Bhalukpong EAC headquarters will receive major overhauls. Additional rural connectivity boosts via the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) target routes like the stretch from 64 Mile Camp to Sera through Wanghoo and from Tenga Cantonment Road to the helipad.
Administrative efficiency gets a lift with new government residences for the Agriculture Department in both Bhalukpong and Thrizino, plus a dedicated divisional office for the freshly established PWD Thrizino Division.
A ceremonial highlight was the bhumi pujan for the envisioned Grong Buddha Park in Singchung, graced by Home Minister Mama Natung and legislators from Tawang and West Kameng constituencies. This sprawling spiritual haven will house a towering Buddha statue, a serene monastery, ornate stupas, an interpretive museum, tranquil water features, guest accommodations, student hostels, a knowledge library, dining options, administrative hubs, welcoming reception areas, ample parking, vendor stalls, and lush landscaped gardens.
“Upon fruition, this sanctuary will emerge as a peaceful hub for spiritual contemplation, while igniting tourism prospects, bolstering community incomes, and safeguarding our rich cultural legacy,” Khandu remarked.
This multifaceted push not only fortifies the foundational pillars of progress in West Kameng but also paves the way for sustainable tourism and inclusive growth, positioning Arunachal Pradesh as a beacon of balanced regional advancement.
