In a milestone achievement for the state’s budding motorsport scene, an Arunachal Pradesh team has clinched the overall runner-up position at the Rally of Himalayas, navigating treacherous high-altitude terrains with remarkable grit and precision. Marking their debut participation in this demanding event, the squad overcame extreme challenges, including razor-thin air, snow-blanketed passes, and erratic weather patterns that forced modifications or cancellations to several stages like those on the Hamta and Rohtang routes.
At the forefront was rally veteran Lhakpa Tsering, who piloted a Toyota Hilux to secure second place in the fiercely contested Above 1850 cc category, showcasing the vehicle’s robustness on unforgiving mountain trails. Complementing his efforts, Naku Hage Chada dominated the Up to 1350 cc class to claim first position, while Jaongam Mirip Singpho provided essential support throughout the high-stakes competition. Their collective performance not only highlighted superior driving skills and endurance but also underscored the vital role of teamwork in conquering the rally’s brutal demands.
Reflecting on the triumph, Lhakpa Tsering shared, “The Rally of Himalayas pushed us to our limits.
