In a decisive blow against the drug trade, East Siang police arrested two individuals and seized a small cache of suspected heroin during a targeted undercover operation at 4 Mile in Pasighat. The duo, caught red-handed as part of the ongoing Operation Dawn 2.0, included habitual drug user Tajen Pame and alleged peddler Peeman Manham Taloh.
Acting on credible intelligence, the Anti-Drugs Squad (ADS) of East Siang, in coordination with the Anti-Drugs Warriors of Pasighat, sprung into action under the leadership of DSP Ayup Boko. The team, comprising SI K Tangha, Ct S Perme, L/Ct G Pangkak, L/Ct N Pansa, Ct K Mili, Ct K Talukm, Ct K Riram, Ct T Padung, and members from the Anti-Drugs Warriors led by Gumin Mize, executed the raid with precision.
A thorough search of the premises, conducted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, in the presence of Executive Magistrate Mum Messar, uncovered 9.28 grams of the contraband hidden inside tobacco containers, along with Rs 89,000 in cash and a keypad mobile phone. Peeman Manham Taloh was detained at the Women Police Station, while Tajen Pame and the seized items were transferred to Pasighat Police Station. A case has been registered under Section 21(a) of the NDPS Act and Section 3(5) of the BNS at Pasighat Police Station (Case No. 93/2025), with ongoing investigations uncovering deeper networks.
Superintendent of Police, East Siang, Pankaj Lamba, commended the team’s swift response and reiterated the district’s firm commitment to eradicating drug-related offenses. “We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards such crimes,” Lamba stated, appealing to the public to report suspicious activities and contribute to building a drug-free East Siang.
