In a continued effort to combat drug trafficking, Naharlagun Police apprehended a 23-year-old man from Poma Village during a targeted raid at Damsite, seizing 18.8 grams of suspected heroin. The operation, conducted under Operation Dawn 2.0, was based on credible intelligence and led by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, Officer-in-Charge of Naharlagun Police Station, with oversight from Superintendent of Police Dr. Nyelam Nega and SDPO Rishi Longdo.
The suspect, identified as Techi Lala, was intercepted while riding a Scooty, where police discovered 15 vials of suspected heroin concealed in the vehicle. The seizure was carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, adhering to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. A case has been registered at Naharlagun Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and the accused is in custody as investigations continue to uncover potential links to broader drug networks.
SP Dr. Nyelam Nega commended the police team’s swift action and reaffirmed the department’s zero-tolerance policy toward drug trafficking. “Our commitment to a drug-free Arunachal remains unwavering. We will continue to target and dismantle narcotics networks to protect our communities,” Nega stated. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Arunachal Pradesh Police to curb the drug menace in the Itanagar Capital Region.
