Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh is gearing up to host a significant global event, the International Conclave on Buddha Dhamma, in the coming days. Organized by the Indian Himalayan Council of Nalanda Buddhist Tradition (IHCNBT) in collaboration with the state government, the two-day event will be held in Bomdila, West Kameng district.
The conclave aims to foster discussions on the relevance of Buddha’s teachings in addressing contemporary global challenges, promoting peace, and strengthening cultural ties across Buddhist nations. It will bring together scholars, spiritual leaders, policymakers, and practitioners from countries such as Thailand, Myanmar, Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, alongside representatives from India.
Key highlights include keynote addresses by prominent Buddhist scholars, panel discussions on the philosophy and practice of Dhamma, and cultural performances showcasing the rich heritage of Buddhist traditions. The event will also feature an exhibition of rare Buddhist artifacts and manuscripts, offering attendees a glimpse into the ancient wisdom of the Nalanda tradition.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating that hosting the conclave reflects the state’s commitment to preserving and promoting Buddhist heritage. He emphasized that the gathering would not only boost cultural exchange but also position Arunachal as a key destination for spiritual tourism.
The conclave is expected to draw significant attention to the region’s vibrant Buddhist legacy while fostering dialogue on sustainable development and global harmony through the lens of Dhamma.
