New Delhi – Mirabai Chanu, India’s Tokyo Olympics silver medalist in weightlifting, has been named chairperson of the Indian Wrestling Federation’s Athletes Commission. The announcement marks a new chapter for the acclaimed athlete, who will now champion the cause of wrestlers nationwide.
Renowned for her trailblazing career, including a Commonwealth Games gold and a world championship title, Chanu expressed enthusiasm for her role, pledging to amplify athletes’ concerns. Joining her is S. Sathish Kumar, a Commonwealth Games gold medalist, appointed as vice-chairperson.
