Guwahati – Assam Congress president Bhupen Kumar Borah has sharply criticized Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma following a public dispute between two BJP leaders in Nalbari district. Borah seized the opportunity to highlight what he described as growing discord within the ruling party, accusing Sarma of failing to maintain unity among his ranks.
The verbal clash involved prominent BJP figures in Nalbari, exposing internal tensions that Borah claimed reflect broader mismanagement under Sarma’s leadership. Speaking at a press conference, Borah mocked the chief minister, stating, “Sarma cannot keep his own house in order, yet he lectures others on governance.” He further alleged that such conflicts reveal the BJP’s weakening grip in Assam ahead of crucial elections.
Borah urged the public to take note of the BJP’s internal struggles, framing the incident as evidence of fractured leadership. Meanwhile, the Assam BJP has downplayed the spat, with a spokesperson insisting it was a minor disagreement being addressed internally. The episode has sparked political chatter, with opposition parties amplifying the issue to challenge the ruling party’s cohesion.
