Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh: The Buddhist community in Arunachal Pradesh recently met with Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to discuss issues surrounding the management of the Bodhgaya Temple in Bihar, a key pilgrimage site for Buddhists worldwide. The community expressed dissatisfaction with the current Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee, citing its lack of inclusivity and inadequate representation of Buddhist interests.
During the meeting, community leaders urged for reforms to ensure the temple’s administration better reflects the diverse Buddhist population and addresses pilgrims’ needs effectively. They emphasized the spiritual and cultural significance of Bodhgaya, where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment, and called for transparent management to enhance the site’s accessibility and upkeep.
Minister Rijiju, attentive to the concerns, assured the delegation of his commitment to engage with relevant authorities to explore solutions. He acknowledged the temple’s importance to Buddhists globally and pledged to advocate for fair representation in its governance.
The discussion has sparked hope among the community for meaningful changes, with expectations of improved management that honors Bodhgaya’s sacred legacy.
