Lhou Grelleng Set to Become Arunachal’s Premier Cultural Tourism Village

TAWANG – Lhou Grelleng, a quaint village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district, is poised to transform into a model cultural tourism hub, spotlighting the region’s rich heritage. During a recent visit, Tawang Deputy Commissioner Kanki Darang unveiled ambitious plans to develop the village under the Vibrant Village Programme, an initiative aimed at boosting border areas through sustainable growth.

The deputy commissioner, joined by administrative officials and local stakeholders, reviewed ongoing infrastructure projects designed to enhance connectivity and preserve the village’s unique Monpa traditions. Known for its historical significance as a winter retreat for the Sixth Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso, Lhou Grelleng offers a blend of cultural depth and natural beauty, making it an ideal candidate for tourism development.

The proposed upgrades include improved road networks, community facilities, and the promotion of local crafts and cuisine, all intended to attract visitors while empowering residents. Darang emphasized that the project aligns with efforts to showcase Arunachal Pradesh’s diverse cultural tapestry and strengthen its tourism appeal, positioning Lhou Grelleng as a beacon of heritage and hospitality in the state’s northeastern frontier.
