Arunachal Municipal Meet in Itanagar Prioritizes Wage Hikes and Civic Improvements

Itanagar – A significant meeting held by the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) brought together corporators and officials to address pressing civic issues in the state capital, with a strong emphasis on improving worker wages and upgrading infrastructure. The gathering, chaired by IMC Mayor Tame Phassang, focused on enhancing the quality of life for residents through better urban services and fair compensation for municipal workers.

During the meeting, Mayor Phassang announced a proposed 30% wage increase for IMC workers, acknowledging their critical role in maintaining the city’s cleanliness and functionality. This move aims to boost morale among the workforce and ensure better service delivery. Additionally, the mayor revealed plans to introduce 10 new garbage collection vehicles to improve waste management across Itanagar, addressing long-standing concerns about sanitation in the rapidly growing capital.

The discussions also covered the development of a new mobile application designed to streamline civic services. This app will allow residents to report issues like garbage accumulation, waterlogging, or damaged roads directly to the IMC, enabling faster response times and greater accountability. Alongside this, the meeting highlighted the need for stricter enforcement of building regulations to curb illegal constructions, which have been a growing challenge in the city.

Mayor Phassang emphasized the importance of community involvement, urging citizens to segregate waste at the source to support the IMC’s efforts in maintaining a cleaner environment. The meeting also addressed the need for better coordination with the state government to secure funding and resources for these initiatives, reflecting a collaborative approach to urban development.

This municipal meet underscores Itanagar’s ongoing efforts to modernize its infrastructure while ensuring fair treatment for its workers, setting a foundation for sustainable growth in Arunachal Pradesh’s capital.
