The Arunachal Pradesh government has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering the state’s youth by enhancing skill development and employment opportunities, announcing a new initiative that includes stipends for apprenticeships. The pledge was made during a recent event presided over by Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Nyato Dukam, highlighting the state’s focus on fostering a skilled workforce.
The initiative, a collaborative effort between the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the Honda India Foundation, and the Visan Foundation, aims to equip young individuals with practical training and financial support. Under the program, apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000, designed to ease financial burdens while they gain hands-on experience in various trades. This move is part of a broader strategy to boost entrepreneurship and ensure sustainable livelihoods for the state’s youth.
Minister Nyato Dukam emphasized the importance of skill-building in driving economic growth, stating that the government is dedicated to creating a robust ecosystem for young talent. “By providing both training and financial assistance, we are laying the foundation for our youth to thrive in competitive industries,” he said during the event. The program is expected to benefit hundreds of participants across Arunachal Pradesh, with a particular focus on aligning skills with market demands.
The partnership with private organizations like the Honda India Foundation underscores the state’s efforts to leverage external expertise and resources. Officials noted that this collaboration will introduce modern training methodologies and open pathways to employment in sectors such as automotive technology and manufacturing.
As Arunachal Pradesh continues to prioritize youth development, this initiative marks a significant step toward reducing unemployment and fostering self-reliance among the younger generation. The government has expressed its intent to expand such programs in the future, ensuring that skill development remains a cornerstone of the state’s progress.
