Arunachal Pradesh Launches Bold Policies to Drive Tourism and Agriculture Forward

Itanagar, March , 2025 – Arunachal Pradesh has taken a transformative step toward sustainable growth with the introduction of three innovative state policies targeting tourism, agriculture, and horticulture. Approved by the state Cabinet under Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s leadership, these initiatives aim to modernize key sectors, empower local communities, and position the state as a leader in eco-conscious development.

The Tourism Policy 2025-30 sets out to elevate Arunachal Pradesh as a premier destination by focusing on sustainable and community-led growth. The plan prioritizes improving infrastructure, such as road networks and eco-friendly accommodations, while enhancing digital connectivity to attract high-value tourists. By emphasizing cultural preservation and environmental stewardship, the policy seeks to create economic opportunities while showcasing the state’s natural beauty and rich heritage.

In parallel, the Agriculture Policy 2025-35 aims to revolutionize farming in the state through modernization and sustainability. Key measures include expanding cultivable land through techniques like terracing and shifting cultivation management. The policy is designed to boost farmer incomes, promote climate-resilient practices, and integrate technology to ensure long-term agricultural prosperity in the region.

A groundbreaking addition, the Horticulture Policy 2025-35, marks India’s first dedicated state-level framework for this sector. It focuses on commercially viable and climate-adaptive horticulture, with initiatives like the Arunachal Kiwi Mission to establish the state as a kiwi production hub. The policy also promotes spice cultivation and aims to empower farmers by linking them to broader markets, setting a national example for sustainable horticultural growth.

State officials hailed the policies as a forward-thinking blueprint for Arunachal Pradesh’s future, blending economic advancement with environmental care. These efforts reflect the government’s commitment to fostering resilience and prosperity in a state known for its diverse landscapes and vibrant communities. As implementation begins, the initiatives are expected to reshape the region’s economic landscape over the next decade.
