Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet Orders Strict Implementation of Education Transformation Program

On February 19, 2025, the Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, issued a firm directive to the state’s education department to rigorously implement a transformative initiative aimed at revolutionizing the education sector. Titled “Mission Shikshit Arunachal by 2029,” the program falls under the broader framework of “Transformation of Education Landscape in Arunachal Pradesh” and seeks to overhaul the state’s educational infrastructure within three years.

The Cabinet’s decision followed a detailed presentation by the education department, which outlined a comprehensive plan developed through extensive research, field visits, and assessments across the state. The initiative focuses on creating a future-ready education system that guarantees quality learning for every child. Key priorities include upgrading school infrastructure, optimizing human resources, and equipping teachers with innovative, activity-based teaching methods through targeted training programs.

The “Mission Shikshit Arunachal by 2029” sets ambitious goals, such as eliminating single-teacher schools and ensuring all schools have sufficient classrooms, hostels, toilets, drinking water, and electricity. Additionally, the plan aims to provide at least 80% of government schools with internet connectivity, smart classrooms, and digital learning resources to enhance educational delivery. The Cabinet emphasized strict adherence to the execution timeline to ensure the program’s success, reflecting the state’s commitment to improving literacy and learning outcomes.

This directive aligns with Arunachal Pradesh’s broader vision of fostering a robust educational ecosystem, addressing long-standing challenges, and preparing students for a competitive future. The next steps involve detailed monitoring and collaboration across departments to meet the 2029 deadline.
