Arunachal Pradesh CM Unveils Historic T-55 Tank in Changlang

Introduction

In a significant event highlighting India’s military heritage, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu unveiled a decommissioned T-55 Russian-made tank at the World War II Cemetery in Jairampur, Changlang district.

Significance of the T-55 Tank

The T-55 tank, inducted into the Indian Army in 1965, played a pivotal role in India’s armored warfare history. Although now decommissioned, it stands as a testament to the bravery and dedication of Indian soldiers. Chief Minister Khandu expressed pride in unveiling this historic artifact, emphasizing its importance in inspiring patriotism among the youth.

Initiative to Honor Military Heritage

This unveiling is part of a broader initiative to honor India’s military legacy. Arunachal Pradesh plans to display a total of eight such tanks across the state, with four already installed. Lieutenant Colonel TC Tayum has been instrumental in bringing these tanks to the region, aiming to preserve the memories of India’s military heroes for future generations.

Conclusion

The installation of the T-55 tank in Changlang district not only commemorates India’s rich military history but also serves to inspire and educate the public, particularly the younger generation, about the sacrifices and valor of the nation’s armed forces.
