Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has unveiled development projects worth ₹43 crore in Nampong, focusing on historical preservation, infrastructure enhancement, and tourism promotion.
Preservation of World War II Heritage
Recognizing Nampong’s significant role during World War II, particularly its association with the historic Stilwell Road, CM Khandu announced plans to preserve and redevelop wartime remnants. He emphasized that these efforts aim to transform Nampong into a prominent tourist destination by restoring its historical artifacts.
Infrastructure and Connectivity Enhancements
To bolster tourism and economic self-reliance, the government is committed to improving connectivity in the Tirap, Changlang, and Longding (TCL) regions. Key projects include upgrading the Jairampur-Nampong-Pangsau Pass road to a double-lane national highway and proposing a 2,500-kilometer Frontier Highway connecting Nafra in West Kameng to Vijaynagar in Changlang. These initiatives are expected to significantly enhance the state’s connectivity landscape.
Inauguration of Development Projects
During the three-day Pangsau Pass International Festival (PPIF), CM Khandu inaugurated several development projects:
- Goodwill Hall in Nampong
- Divisional Office of Urban Development and Housing in Jairampur
- Upgraded Setong Sena Outdoor Stadium in Jairampur
- Circle Office Building in Rima
- Tourist Lodge in Nampong
- Improved Township Road in Jairampur ADC Headquarters
Additionally, he laid the foundation stones for:
- Rima Village to Longchong Road Improvement
- Jairampur Supermarket with Parking Facilities
- Nampong to Tikhak Khamlang PMGSY Road
Decentralized Governance Initiatives
Highlighting the importance of local governance, CM Khandu announced plans to hold cabinet meetings in various districts to address region-specific issues effectively. This approach aims to ensure that local concerns are addressed promptly and efficiently.
