Signing of the Joint Declaration
During the summit, the Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) and the Tanii Supun Dukun (TSD), representing the Adi and Apatani communities respectively, signed a historic joint declaration. This pact emphasizes:
- Prohibition of Traditional Revenge Practices: Both communities agreed to abandon age-old revenge customs.
- Promotion of Inter-Tribe Marriages and Cultural Exchanges: Encouraging bonds through marriages and shared festivals to strengthen unity.
- Condemnation of Communal Disputes and Violence: A unified stance against any form of communal discord.
Chief Minister Khandu’s Address
Chief Minister Pema Khandu lauded the initiative, stating, “Today, we are not just marking a summit of two communities; we are witnessing the triumph of unity, understanding, and a commitment to preserving the age-old fabric of communal harmony.” He highlighted the ancestral bond between the Adis and Apatanis, rooted in their common lineage from Abotani.

Khandu assured the state’s support for such initiatives, emphasizing the importance of mutual understanding among Arunachal Pradesh’s diverse tribes. He stated, “The state government, in collaboration with community leaders like you, will continue to work towards fostering an environment of trust and peaceful coexistence.”

Addressing the younger generation, Khandu urged them to uphold the values of unity and respect, saying, “You are the torchbearers of the values that we hold dear… Let the example set by the Adi and the Apatani communities inspire you to work together.”
