Recognition for Exemplary Preventive Measures in Election Security
The Superintendent of Police (SP) of Kurung Kumey district in Arunachal Pradesh has been honored with the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) Best Preventive Policing Award. This accolade acknowledges the SP’s outstanding efforts in implementing preventive measures to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of elections in the region.
Election Commission’s Recognition
On January 18, 2024, the ECI announced the names of 13 officers nationwide who have demonstrated excellence in electoral practices. Among them, three officers hail from the Northeast, including the SP of Kurung Kumey district. This recognition underscores the critical role of effective policing in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.

Beyond election security, the Kurung Kumey police, under the leadership of SP Bomken Basar, have been actively engaging with the community through various initiatives. During recent landslides and road disruptions, the police ensured that essential supplies reached affected villages like Chaching, Sarli, Palo, and Raktepu. Led by the SP and Deputy SP Headquarters, officers traversed challenging terrains, covering distances on foot to deliver rations and necessary aid to stranded residents.
