Arunachal Pradesh Governor Honors Youth at Scouts and Guides Ceremony



On January 15, 2025, at the Raj Bhavan in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik honored 43 young individuals with the Bharat Scouts and Guides State Awards. This group included 21 Scouts and 22 Guides who received the state’s highest scouting honor.

Governor’s Address: Emphasizing Responsibility and Service

Governor Parnaik, serving as the chief patron of the Bharat Scouts and Guides State Association, commended the awardees for their dedication, discipline, and commitment to societal service. He remarked, “The Rajya Puraskar is not merely a recognition but a responsibility to continue serving with greater zeal.” He encouraged the youth to embody values of discipline, service, and patriotism, contributing to a stronger and more united India.

Growth of Scouting in Arunachal Pradesh

The scouting movement in Arunachal Pradesh has seen significant growth since its inception in 1948 with just 24 boys in Pasighat. Currently, it encompasses 877 units across 439 schools, engaging over 13,000 active members. This expansion highlights the movement’s role in fostering leadership skills, discipline, and a sense of responsibility among the youth.

Call to Action: Youth’s Role in Nation-Building

Governor Parnaik emphasized the crucial role of young leaders in achieving the vision of a developed India. He stated, “The call for a developed India is not just a slogan but a mission that requires innovation, inclusivity, and relentless effort.” He urged more students to join the Scouts and Guides movement, describing it as “a wonderful platform to develop leadership skills, discipline, and a sense of responsibility.”

Ceremony Highlights

The event featured demonstrations of first aid skills by Scouts and Guides, as well as cultural performances by students from Hornbill English Medium School. These activities showcased the diverse talents and commitment of the youth involved in the scouting movement.

The ceremony concluded with traditional dance performances, including a special presentation on water conservation. This highlighted the movement’s dedication to cultural preservation and addressing contemporary social issues.
