NCC Cadets in Arunachal Pradesh Engage in Live Firing Exercise at Hayuliang Range

In a significant development for the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Arunachal Pradesh, cadets from Government Higher Secondary Schools in Hayuliang and Hawaii participated in a live firing exercise at the Hayuliang Firing Range. This event, marking the first of its kind since the NCC’s establishment in the region in 1986, was conducted under the supervision of the 26 NCC Battalion from Digboi, led by Subedar Major Rupendra Chhetri and overseen by Colonel Vijay Lamba.

Importance of Live Firing in NCC Training

Live firing exercises are crucial in NCC training programs, as they acquaint cadets with the safe handling and operation of firearms, thereby enhancing their confidence and accuracy. During the exercise, cadets were positioned within 100 yards of the firing point and received comprehensive instructions on procedures, target assignments, and safety protocols.

Revitalizing NCC Spirit in the Region

This milestone event has invigorated the NCC spirit in the area, offering cadets opportunities to develop discipline, leadership skills, and marksmanship. The initiative underscores the dedication of both cadets and their mentors to fostering a culture of excellence and readiness among the youth.

National Context of NCC Firing Practices

Firing practices are integral to NCC training nationwide. Notably, the first underground shooting range for NCC cadets in Rohini, New Delhi, features advanced facilities such as a 25-meter range, bulletproof ceilings, and electronic target control systems.

Future Training Prospects

The successful execution of the live firing exercise at Hayuliang reflects the commitment of the 26 NCC Battalion and the enthusiasm of the cadets, paving the way for future training initiatives in the region.
