India’s Richest Chief Ministers: ADR Report Reveals Stunning Facts

A recent report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has shed light on the wealth of India’s chief ministers, revealing some astonishing figures. According to the report, Andhra Pradesh’s N Chandrababu Naidu tops the list with assets worth over ₹931 crore, making him the richest chief minister in India ¹.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu ranks second, with declared assets worth over ₹332 crore. However, Khandu also holds the distinction of having the highest liabilities among his counterparts, amounting to ₹180 crore ¹.

On the other end of the spectrum, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is identified as the poorest chief minister, with declared assets of just ₹15 lakh.

Key Findings from the ADR Report:

– Average Asset Value: The average asset value per chief minister across India’s state assemblies and union territories is ₹52.59 crore ¹.
– Criminal Cases: 13 (42%) chief ministers have declared criminal cases against themselves, while 10 (32%) have declared serious criminal cases ¹.
– Women in Power: Only two out of the 31 chief ministers are women – West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee and Delhi’s Atishi .

The ADR report highlights the significant variation in financial disclosures among India’s political leaders, showcasing both their wealth and liabilities.
