Major Arms Cache Recovered in Namdapha National Park, Arunachal Pradesh

In a significant joint operation conducted by the security forces under the aegis of Spear Corps and Arunachal Pradesh Police, a substantial cache of weapons has been recovered from Namdapha National Park along the 27-mile stretch of the Miao-Vijaynagar axis in Changlang District, Arunachal Pradesh.

This successful operation involved extensive search efforts by specialized teams comprising personnel from the Assam Rifles, Army, and Changlang District Police. These teams employed advanced technology, including high-tech drones, tracker dogs, and metal detectors, to effectively navigate the challenging terrain.

During the course of the operation, a total of ten MQ 81 Chinese origin Assault Rifles and Type 81 Assault Rifles were recovered from various locations within the 27-mile radius along the Miao-Vijaynagar road, situated within the jurisdiction of Namdapha National Park & Tiger Reserve. This recovery is considered one of the largest in recent times in South Arunachal.

These weapons, concealed deep within the dense forest, had been the subject of an extensive search by major insurgent groups operating in Changlang District for the past six months, all to no avail.

Intelligence reports suggest that these weapons were buried by the Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) prior to their surrender last year. However, utilizing their expertise and relying on reliable intelligence, the security forces successfully unearthed the hidden cache within the thick forest.

Prior to the commencement of the operation, the security forces ensured the safe passage of tourists present within Namdapha National Park, demonstrating a commitment to the safety and well-being of visitors. The operation was conducted with utmost professionalism and precision, effectively preventing these weapons from falling into the hands of insurgent groups.

Numerous inputs received over the past six months indicated attempts by various insurgent groups, particularly the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) (NSCN-IM) and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) (NSCN-KYA), with the assistance of merged ENNG cadres, to recover the concealed cache. This significant achievement underscores the unwavering dedication of our security forces to maintaining peace and security within the region.
