In a significant operation conducted on December 26th, security forces apprehended two active cadres of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) in the Rima area of Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh.1
Acting on specific intelligence, a joint operation was launched at 3:00 AM involving personnel from 11 Para (Special Forces), 10 Assam Rifles, and the Changlang Police, under the command of Sub Mahesh Singh of 11 Para (SF).2
The apprehended individuals have been identified as SS Lt. Roney Rai alias Tutu, a resident of Jairampur, Changlang, and SS Sgt Maj. Anong Singpho, a resident of Pengri in Tinsukia, Assam.4
These individuals were allegedly involved in extortion activities targeting local businessmen and shopkeepers in the region.5
During the operation, security forces recovered a .32mm pistol with six rounds of ammunition, a Nagamese sickle, a wallet, a PAN card, a mobile phone, and a SIM card from the duo’s possession.
