Arunachal Pradesh Celebrates Indigenous Heritage at IFCSAP Silver Jubilee

Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram graced the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) as the Chief Guest, commending the organization’s unwavering efforts to uphold and celebrate the spirit of indigenous identity and culture.

Addressing the gathering, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu emphasized the enduring significance of indigenous faiths, stating, “Indigenous faiths have been an integral part of humanity since time immemorial, predating the emergence of organized religions.” He further announced a significant step towards strengthening the state’s commitment to preserving its heritage: “To further our commitment to preserving our heritage, the Department of Indigenous Affairs will now be renamed to include ‘Indigenous Faith and Culture’.”

The three-day event, spanning from December 26th to 28th, is dedicated to safeguarding the rich tapestry of Indigenous Culture and Faith within the state.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the ongoing efforts to safeguard cultural and traditional practices. He confirmed that the state is actively formulating rules to implement the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 1978, reaffirming the state’s dedication to protecting its indigenous traditions.

Union Minister Jual Oram lauded the state’s initiatives and encouraged the continued promotion of indigenous values. Chief Minister Khandu further emphasized, “As proud Bharatiyas, it is our solemn duty to protect all indigenous philosophical traditions and faiths, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, and other native traditions that have emerged within Bharat.”

Over 4,000 delegates from across Arunachal Pradesh have converged at Indira Gandhi Park for this momentous occasion. The Silver Jubilee celebration is a grand showcase of the state’s rich cultural heritage, diverse traditions, and deeply-rooted indigenous faiths.

Home and Indigenous Affairs Minister Mama Natung extended a heartfelt appeal to the indigenous communities, particularly those residing in the state capital, to actively participate in the festivities. “This is a unique opportunity to display unity and express pride in our shared cultural legacy. Let us join hands to honor and preserve our heritage for generations to come,” he urged.

The celebration features a captivating array of cultural performances, traditional rituals, and engaging exhibitions, all aimed at promoting the unique identities of Arunachal Pradesh’s indigenous communities. It also serves as a critical platform to renew collective commitment towards safeguarding the state’s traditions and faiths for future generations.

The Silver Jubilee celebration marks a significant milestone, reflecting the growing commitment and concerted efforts to preserve and promote the invaluable cultural and spiritual heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.
